Bea,

Could you go to the Classic preferences control panel, and disable the 
auto-start of Classic at startup or login ?

Then completely shut down the Mac, and restart.

Let us know if (after a bit of cleanup, and one last restart of the 
machine), the problems still occur ?  Are they related to Classic ?  or 
not ?

Do you have a separate way of emailing or ICQ ?
