Bea, Please check within CE if maybe your attachments download folder is pointing to the desktop location. Same for other locations of e.g. mailboxes.
It appears to me that CE while receiving is adding the stuff to your desktop. Maybe this is just because it was looking for a folder, and because of some error changed the path to the desktop location. Enclosed.html files definitely belong in you CE downloads folder.
