True, but Mail doesn't support encrypted LDAP sessions, which is why we tend to steer Mac users towards Thunderbird, which supports both encrypted mail and LDAP. But, as I said before, what I really want is a port/update of Emailer, because even though Thunderbird does (most of) what I need, it's just not as spiffy as Emailer. (Nothing is.)
