While it very well may be a bad drive, it could also be incorrect
master/slave/cable select jumper settings. When you go to remove the
drive, verify the jumpers are correct for that drive. I'm not sure
what your Mac is expecting (you can probably find out via google),
but a common screw up is setting a drive to Master when it is a
Single drive AND has a different Single setting from Master setting.
This can cause the drive to behave incorrectly and constantly corrupt
data.
