I only 'abandoned' Emailer as of the first of this year, finally moving from 10.4.x to 10.6.x on a new machine.
Compared to Emailer, Apple's Mail has some _really infuriating_ quirks, and I still had to script a 'check/send' routine to avoid repeated authentication problems. Other than requesting a port change from my ISP, I don't know how to 'fix' that. I have Mail set up as closely to Emailer as possible, but the annoying quirks are (almost) too numerous to list. I may yet set up SheepShaver, and get Emailer running again for grins, but I doubt I'll go back. I looked at PowerMail and (I think) Thunderbird... but figured what the hey... at least Mail will be supported for a while longer. Maybe the best thing I can say about Mail is that the 10.4 version imported my Claris DB cleanly (without attachments, of course), and the 10.6 version imported the mailboxes created by 10.4. So I've got some continuity from Emailer days. Anyways... thought I'd chime in... as maybe the last to 'let go'. Peter B. -----
