Several years ago I had a friend who does very serious Win* driver work and he claims that with proper development he can maintain good enough for servo control, etc. I sent him off an email asking for some specific details, but it is likely going to be weeks before we hash through enough details to meaningful report because I think he will be leaving for his honeymoon this weekend... That being said, anyone who can handle developing data warehousing and RT control for <=1024 instruments in particle accelerator probably knows what he is talking about. I just have not seen it... hey...
