What I tried to say is: that is my personal experience and I think
that most convenient way to prepare HAL files is a matter of personal
preference - one likes apples while others prefer bananas.

I just took a look at "Getting started guide" from the homepage.
I have 2 comments:
1) it is no surprise that new users are using Pncconf or Stepconf -
the possibility to use sample configs as a means of creating a config
for particular machine is explained in 2 sentences in section 7.3.,
while Pncconf has 28 pages and Stepconf has 14 pages;
2) more offtopic - this guide has EMC2 everywhere as the name of
application, whereas it should be LinuxCNC; BTW user manual is even
stranger - it has LinuxCNC in some places, but I see mostly EMC2
everywhere. Whom should I report this to?
