Interesting thought. If we can standardize much more of the build to conform to general Linux standards, then the generation of the ebuils might be trivial (and automatible). For now Sławek and I are focusing on getting 2.7 (and maybe 2.8) building for more than just a single kernel. Something that we have discussed, and questioned, is the state of UB3 -- which is MUCH better suited to our needs. It appears that UB3 is connected to the 2.6 source tree, and has not been ported to 2.7 nor 2.8...
What is the plans for getting UB3 into the 2.7 or 2.8 main tree, and how can we help? Since we will be working with several different kernels, UI's, etc., this might help with integrating and testing. From what I remember the last time I played with the ebuilds, with the current specialized build steps I do not expect that it will be easily automatible. Anyway, please give us a poke in a couple of months when we both *may* have more time to take a serious look at this.
