By playing with glade-gtk2, I have managed to arrive at something that
works, part of the time. But it goes away too, leaving a blank, white,
camera image window. It seems to be related to expanding the axis
window, which is basically about 1/4 screen at LinuxCNC's launch
defaults.

The cameras basic image is 640x480, and I can make it go away quickly by
attempting to expand its viewing window to more than 480 high. Frame is
about 15 to 17 fps, which is usable. Last time I had it working well
about 2 years ago, the frame rate was only about 2fps, so you moved the
machine, then waited several seconds for the image movement on screen to
be completed. Essentially worthless then, but now its plenty fast enough
to be helpfull. More computer, the D525MW boards do not have the
horsepower.

Set for a window size less than that, it can watch the machine home
itself, but clicking the cam/tool position toggle will watch it move to
that offset, but moving the machine to start recording the constants
used in the auto-align functions will always make the camera die while
the machine is in motion but at some random point in the procedure.
Cableing is fine, I can slide the camera off its mount and wave it all
around without a glitch.

This is the only error logged on the starting terminal when the camera
tab goes blank:

/usr/bin/gladevcp:295: Warning: g_object_ref: assertion
`object->ref_count > 0' failed
  gtk.main()

Does this tell anyone something about how to fix it so it doesn't go
blank? It sure doesn't here, don't know enough about glade, either
version. No help available in either glade-gtk2, it claims my

GladeUI-Message: The DevHelp installed on your system is too old, devhelp
feature will be disabled.

DevHelp is wheezy latest, 3.4.1-1.

Thanks everybody.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
