Since I'm doing my work between jobs and in my spare time...like most people 
...I would like the time to do it unrushed.
If we had had a rough schedule i might have been more ready .. but i gave up 
waiting :)
We have waited what 3 years... a couple months isnt bad.

Maybe select a date which is not to far in future and see what's really
coming in.
If it's only few things, go for RC1 early, and use RC2 / 3 /...
If nothing's coming in anymore in terms of bugs, release might not be to
far away.
