Interesting, Nevertheless, flame retardant is entrenched and in my experience I've never had the need of it except for product certification purposes. Possibly this is mainly a CYA exercise (*cover your anatomy*). In any case, I've personally witnessed a few of the UL 94 tests, and they really do work.
