Gentlemen, I will go to the irc to see what is there. I have been runniing NC and then CNC machines since 1979. I now own machines with Fanuc, MDSI, Fadal, Haas, Okuma, Mitsubishi and Leblond Makino and Cincinatti controls. Each of these machines act in the same manner with the handwheel. You are able to move the handwheel faster than the machine will move an axis. When you stop the handwheel the axis stops and your handwheel dial is no longer accurate. The speed the axis will move using the handwheel is also much slower than the rapid speed. On a machine with 20 inches of X motion this is not much of a problem and not really noticed. We have one machine with 200 inches of X travel. When you move from one end of the table to the other you definitely do not want to use the handwheel. Any time I want to keep the handwheel dial position synchronized with the axis positon I have to move the handwheel slower than the machine will move the axis. On one Fanuc control we had the machine builder turn this on when the machine was installed. This has presented absolutely no problems for us. The leading value scenario not exceeding a certain amount is preferable to me over the time constraint scenario. I would be able to adjust the leading value per axis to allow the performance I wanted. Even 1/2 inch or possibly 1 inch would be very much preferable to unlimited. I see operators fling the handwheel when moving the machines. If all the pulses resulted in motion the machine would overtravel all the time. If no one is wishing to help with this would someone guide me to the section of the source code that would need to be modified. I know very little c but I know some experienced coders. Anything I would develop will be available and shared with everyone. This is not my preferred path but I feel that I need this capability. Thanks Stuart
