I've mostly made either positive plugs or negative moulds for composite 
moulding or lead casting (these are all for model boat parts):

aluminium rudder mould (rudder is made with carbon fiber skins + balsa 
or epoxy/microballoon core:

MDF deck plug (painted and sanded and then a mould in glassfiber is 
laminated on top of this)

It's surprising how many 'pro' cnc-shops won't even quote this kind of 
3D work since they don't have 3D CAM, or are only experienced with 2.5D.

PS. one of the Americas Cup syndicates must have too much money and time 
on their hands. A guy working there made an aluminium mould for the
