Thanks Alex worked a treat. Everything is working fine now, took me a while
to work out how to set up the motion specialy the Z axis as its 2:1 ratio
and halfstep on the driver board I also don't like the Z moving as fast in
rapid as the X and Y, about half the speed. What I found was that while
using the axis speed and feed overide sliders on the TKEMC GUI, which is the
GUI I like best, if the MAXVELOCITY and STEPMAXVELOCITY on the Z axis were
set to high and you mistakenly turned the axis speed slider up to high (feed
overide at 100%) it was possible to freeze the stepper on the Z axis, not
something you want to happen in the middle of a part. (My Z moves the hole
head not just the quill hence the 2:1 ratio.). So I've set it so even if
axis speed is turned right up Z will not freeze, I think I could up it a bit
more but for now I'll play safe until I've learnt some more. If anybody has
any further thoughts on this I'd be happy to hear them. I cut Chips the
penguin in blue foam and he looks OK. My setup is 800Mhz PC, Xylotex 4 axis
driver, 4mm pitch ballscrews all axis, direct drive on X & Y 2:1 on Z,
180Ncm steppers X & Y, 220Ncm stepper on Z. All steppers at 2.5Amps, they
just get warm when left on.
