Forever. In the middle of a program, you can pause and then continue. But, there really is no provision to pause, make a manual move, and then continue with the program seamlessly. I think you can't alter offsets, either, while paused, but maybe you can. After making any manual moves, you have to know the G-code block to restart from, search for that line in the G-code display window and click the "start from line" button in the menu. EMC2 does scan the entire program to make sure it is in the right mode for the line it will start from, except it won't start the spindle, so you need a manual override.
