Please let me know if this is too far off topic. I have a friend with a couple of 80's vintage Mori Seiki's and a Matsuura, all with Yasnac controls. He wants to move g-code files through the serial ports with a laptop. I made a cable, set the serial port parameters and was able to get characters to a terminal emulator on the laptop. The problem is that some of the characters are not presented on the screen properly. My guess is that what is coming across is a tape code and the terminal needs ASCII. Is my guess correct? Will I need to buy BTR software or is there another way to save and load g-code through the controller serial ports?
