The most straightforward way to get this (ddt on the position pin) is
not safe across index.  It will go nuts when you get an index reset at
the start of a threading cut.  This is a main reason why encoder
drivers should provide the velocity signal.

Unfortunately I don't think the motenc driver is being maintained by
anyone.  I don't think any of the active developers have this
hardware.
