I'm trying to get a clearer picture of your requirements here. Is this PDA intended to be a passive user interface of an DRO, independent of any CNC system? That's what I inferred from "read encoders." But then from "hacked one of these for machine control" it sounded like you intend the PDA to be an active CNC element. Comments? In terms of fulfilling your requirements, are you thinking PDA because it is a convenient packaging of display and input devices or because...?
