I wish I had time to explore this subject more thoroughly. For example, 
in the past I've noticed anomalous timings that I suspected were the 
result of using a USB mouse on a particular board but didn't have time 
to prove or disprove the hypothesis.

As for my "stress" test, it was anything but scientific, but the fact 
that the latency numbers for this MB were decent even with USB-disk 
access encouraged me.
