ive been through five dozen installs of live cds from ubu 6 to ten and the result is 'cant do mdi command without home" with the preceeding action being successful home. at this point the enhanced machine controller is less successful than the crummy accumotion software that i started out with ten years ago on win98 with a driver based on the stepper H bridge and and two parport controls through a 7400 series nand or some thing to make step one and step two. the complexity of g code mostly is in interpolating arcs because then trig is involved in the intermediate movement between the start coordinate and the end coordinate. damn. and eveything requires a password. can you imagine implimenting such stuff on a drill press? ..g81 z-2. Just uninstall what you don't want? While a dedicated 'DOS' style OS install would be nice, and on linux is this quite practical, you need some of the graphic tools loaded to create user interfaces, so deciding on a suitable subset of components is the problem. There are a few nice USB stick distros that might well be able to run EMC2, but to be honest, the LiveCD is quite compact, and if there is no network cable, then most of the stuff is disabled anyway? -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk// Firebird - http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BlackBerry® DevCon Americas, Oct. 18-20, San Francisco, CA The must-attend event for mobile developers.
