I have been thinking about this question for a while now.
It also has been discussed on the mailing list sometime this year -
You can take a look at archives.

IMHO there are 2 options:
1) original EMC was supposed to be a part of larger control system,
which would allow synchronizing different machines running EMC. Here
are some links, if You feel like experimenting:

2) more realistic approach is synchronizing them by exchanging status
signals between machines. It can be done with proper g-code ad sending
a signal to other machine with M62-M65 commands and waiting for that
signal on the other machine with M66 command.
