Fluke makes a nice one that I used to chase down some encoder problems on an SSI installation last summer (I borrowed the scope). As it turned out, Heidenhain encoders do not like to be miswired such that the 24 volt power source is connected to the SSI data lines! 8-O I corrected the wiring, but the encoders were already damaged (and unrepairable). We got new encoders (over $1K each), installed them on the machine, I left, the electricians found a discrepancy in the wiring, and "corrected" the encoder wiring - blowing out a second set of encoders! Heidenhain was happy to supply a 3rd set of encoders for an additional $2K. It was nice to be able to easily carry the scope around the machine (which was very large). I think the one I was using was in the $3000 range. But I have seen them on Ebay go for about $1500 used. The company was making aerospace assembly machines so $3K is chump change for them. That scope is really nice for field service work.
If you have the space and can take the work to the scope, a used Tek scope sounds like a good option.
