I have yet to figure out WHAT causes IPv6 to be activated. > One thing I must do however, is reset that router in the shop to be a pure > access point so all my stuff is in the same class C. I have a WRT610N in the house, and a WRT54G in the shop, all connected via a Satellite link to the internet. the 610N, allows me to assign static IP's to the various devices (computers, printers, etc), and the 54G, is set up as a pure access point. Even with this, IPv6 still gives me fits. > Is it possible for both to exist on the same bunch of cat5? Yes. The reason that IPv4 doesn't work, is that IPv6 is searched first, then IPv4. the request will generally time out, before completion. > Lets face it, the day is coming when our ISP's will give us ipv6 whether we > are ready or not, and if we can be ready when that happens, so much the > better. The way I understand it, every home will basically be on it's own subnet, and everything from your computers, and printers, to your refrigerator, to your toaster will be IPv6 enabled.
