OK, I'm not on an ubuntu machine right now, but it is something close to System / Administration / Network from the toolbar that is usually on the top of the screen. In that menu, there should be tabs for ipv4, ipv6 loopback and wireless. Go the the ipv6 tab and turn it off, go to the ipv4 tab and turn it on, and then configure it as you want. I do it manually in my LAN, so I can't say of the automatic stuff works that way, but it ought to.
