Doesn't this conflict with the often expressed desire to start/restart in
the middle of a gcode program?  That's the issue I see.  Solutions
requiring special programs likely would be a waste of effort unless someone
wrote a cam program to use them.  Don't see this happening.

For those that want something different, linuxCNC is an ideal platform for
experimentation due to its modular nature.
