With 8 capacitors in a binary sequence you could have 256 different
levels of capacitance (on top of a base capacitance) quite easily.

Switching them in and out with mechanical relays might be interesting,
but actually zero-crossing SSRs is probably a better way to do it as
it will minimise spikiness. Not that 8 of them is cheap.
