I think for long screws it generally a good idea not to drive the ball-screws, but the nut. While this will not reduce the sag you mentioned, it will greatly improve stability and reduce vibrations. There are special servo with hollow axis that you can directly attach to the carriage frame and the ball nut, the result is nice in-line direct ball-nut drive. But using a belt drive an a standard motor you could most probably build nice drive, too.
