(12 ft long).  But they are large diameter screws, secured, fixed and
stretched in position with a rotating nut moving the table.  I think
rotating the nut rather than the screw helps a lot with wip.

 

The rotating nut and fixed screw totally eliminates the dynamic problem. But
bearings and driving a conventional nut is (as mentioned before) not
straightforward.

 

The phenomenon is often referred to as "critical speed" and "whirling". This
