Mark Use the git method to install and compile the master branch. The wiki is very clear and easy to follow. I turn the auto update stuff off completely as it screws with my stuff all the time. I do a regular pull form the branch to stay up to date. If I installed a machine from master and it runs without hassles I just leave it at that. Have a look here http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Installing_LinuxCNC#Getting_the_source_with_git
