By the way Andy, since you've been working with these kind of approach. I'm
planning to measure the lobe using an edge kind of follower. I'm attaching
a picture of the idea.

My question is, if I can sense the linear movement with an LVDT with an
accuracy of 0.001 mm for 0.1° of turn for the lobe, I have a difference in
the contact point when I try to calculet it. The difference is no more than
0.04 mm in the offset that I have to apply. Do you think this is going to
be a problem? Also I think I have some differences in the way C language is
making the calculations. I get a little difference when I do it on the
calculator by hand.

Anyway, consider that now I'm using steel master cams to reproduce the
lobes, and I doubt I can handle that accuracy now.

I hope I'm clear about what I'm trying to explain, if not please let me
know!
