Gene, one thing I've done to drop a toroid's voltage without having to
hack at the insulation, is to wind a dozen extra turns of insulated wire
through the core, and wind it to buck the secondary. That didn't cover
enough of the surface to keep a lot of heat in, and the increase in I^^2R
losses didn't amount to much.

If your higher output beast runs too warm like that, then the technique
can at least serve for checking in advance how many turns to remove.
