I do not have hardly any CNC lathe experience but I have been running manual lathes for many many years. I must agree with Stuart about the carbide insert parting off tools. I never had much luck with them. Broke several of them and damaged the pocket holding the insert several times as well. A good blade HSS parting tool always worked best for me. I typically spin pretty slow, flood it with lube and sort of peck it in until I get thru. I look forward to the learning process of learning the CNC lathe operations soon as my CNC lathe build is getting revved up now. Of course the tool has to be perfectly perpendicular to the part and the center height is also very important. Basic lathe ops really but I have much to learn about CNC and CSS feeds and speeds on the CNC lathe ops. Good luck man.
