Working Mahogany ATM, and its crappy stuff, not at all well seasoned.

Shipped in Saran Wrap, 11.25" wide when unwrapped, but 2 weeks in my
heated garage and its shrunk to 11 3/16" and some boards 41" long have
winded 4" in 3 weeks. Difficult to get them flattened out enough to fit
a breadboard end, but once its fitted, the pressure should unwind them
eventually. It worked well for the first one, but I had much better wood
then, well seasoned.

So I'm having a heck of a time getting breadboard ends fitted to the
chest lids. Blanket chest, Dec 2014 issue of Fine WoodWorking, but I am
adding an aromatic eastern red cedar lining.

My question is, in 20" of biscuit jointed Mahogany width, how much
seasonal movement should I allow for?

The code I have now to carve the screw holes and the pockets for the
ebony covers, allows for a total of .6" at the ends of the
breadboards. .3" each side assuming the center 2 screws and a spline are
the only place it will be glued. Std procedure IOW.

Is that excessive? Its 22 minutes run time per breadboard stick on my
mill. Mostly by brute force, using a subroutine to do the center pair of
holes, but the outer 4 of the 6 are going to be done by a step & repeat
of the whole subroutine at 25 thou intervals in order to get the
movement room.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
