I don't get hung up on the details as much with LAD. Plus I have yet to see an electrician in the USA that understands AWL. The techs is Germany used to be trained on it as a normal part of their training. The "standard PLC programming" here used to be Allen Bradley SLC 500 Ladder Logic. But that has changed over the last 20 years. The introduction of the IEC programming standards has helped a lot.
