Next time I'm at lowes, I'll see what sort of replacements for these single sheet of glass antiques I can find. I've never been impressed but thats what the place was built with in 1974, by a developer that thought filling in a gully with 20 feet of yellow clay made it prime real estate. And believe me, he didn't waste a single nail, what I've opened up looks like a hercules black powder house. Not more than one nail per board so if the machine grinding the black powder blows up, they just go collect the boards and built it again. So in terms of geological time, this house is floating in a sea of yellow clay, slowly rising (or the clay is drifting down the hill, the window "tubs" that were holding the window free of the "soil" on the downhill end have been removed about a decade back and the window sills are now about 5 to 7" above grade) and I can't find a single doorframe that is not now leaning to the west about 7/16" at the top of the frame. Tear it out and build a new doorframe is the only way to fix it. I'm making deadbolt clearance at the bottom of the $600 new in 1987, now 30yo steel doors lockplates for the 3rd time since 1989 with a dremel. I'd sue the jerk but he died 15 years back up the log. I could sue his son but they've got more money for lawyers (and judges) than I do. He was so secretive about it, the only way the city can find a water or sewer line is by using a Backhoe for a witching stick. Thanks Chris.
