I would have thought that one should be relatively easy to find at a local junkyard. Depending on the model I would be surprised if it even had a cable and not just a pulse generator connected directly to the gear. Ya mean there isn't a dead '88 Caddy in a junk yard near by. I assume the gear is in the rear of the transmission. That is the first place I would look.
