It really depends on what you are familiar with. If you have a classic ladder back ground - it might be an easy way for you to create the logic you need. It is just another tool.
On the K&T the tool arm and chain is done in classic ladder. The gear shifting and spindle index is done in a comp. It came down to that I could wrap my head around that I wanted to do programmatically vs ladder.. That said - I think with the current existing comps in linuxcnc - you could go most thing either place.. sam On Fri, Aug 16, 2019 at 9:07 AM andrew beck <andrewbeck0...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hey Andy > > my mill doesn't need any toolchanging movement once the z axis gets to the > toolchange height. the toolchanger has a arm that drops down and swaps the > tools, It is quite a new mill with a 24 tool side mount random position > toolchanger.so all I need think about I think is the actual toolchanging. > > It is sounding like I don't even need to use classic ladder. > > Does your component manage all the limit switches and stops and motors to > rotate the tool etc? > > Regards > > Andrew > > < > https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail > > > Virus-free. > www.avast.com > < > https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail > > > <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2> > > On Sat, Aug 17, 2019 at 12:28 AM andy pugh <bodge...@gmail.com> wrote: > > > On Fri, 16 Aug 2019 at 13:36, andrew beck <andrewbeck0...@gmail.com> > > wrote: > > > > I just wondered what is involved in changing to 2.8 and is there a iso > that > > > I can just flash the computer with or do I have to build from source. > > as I > > > saw 2.9 is out now so I guess 2.8 must be getting a lot of use. > > > > > > > The easiest way to get 2.8 is to ass the buildbot rpositories to Apt / > > Synaptic: > > http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org > > > > > > > I was wondering what is the best way. > > > > I wrote the "carousel" component to be the best way, and it probably is > for > > some systems. > > It certainly seems to work well for a number of lathe turrets. > > > > For a mill you typically need to combine carousel for turret motion with > a > > remapped M6 and a G-code subroutine to handle the required axes motions > to > > pick up and drop tools. > > > > -- > > atp > > "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed > > for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." > > — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1916 > > > > _______________________________________________ > > Emc-users mailing list > > Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net > > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users > > > > _______________________________________________ > Emc-users mailing list > Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users > _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
