It really depends on what you are familiar with.  If you have a classic
ladder back ground - it might be an easy way for you to create the logic
you need.  It is just another tool.

On the K&T the tool arm and chain is done in classic ladder.  The gear
shifting and spindle index is done in a comp.  It came down to that I could
wrap my head around that I wanted to do programmatically vs ladder..

That said - I think with the current existing comps in linuxcnc - you could
go most thing either place..
