One of the problems with the PMDX-126 BoB is that although it takes two parallel port connections the second port only brings the inputs out to opto isolated terminals on the edge of the BoB.
The outputs (or alternatively inputs) are not brought out. Instead they go to a proprietary interface to their own special function I/O cards and they won't publish that interface. Good reason _not_ to buy a PMDX-126. Since I want the second parallel port DB25-2,3 to be step/dir for high speed spindle control and I don't have access to those pins through the BoB I need to connect the 7i92H or the SmoothStepper to the BoB for the inputs but grab the outputs to run to whatever. Here's my solution http://www.autoartisans.com/mill/Interface-7i92H-P1.pdf The two 26 pin headers just pass through the signals to the BoB. But I capture the outputs and buffer them to be 5V and to screw terminal strips. There's a variety of ways to get 5V. 24V to 5V, 5V in or even grab 5V from the 7i92 although then I have to be careful when I use the SmoothStepper in place of the 7i92H. If anyone has any other suggestions before I lay this out onto a PC board please add your input.
