A long time ago there was an election and some of the active developers were "given a title in lieu of a salary", but after about 2 years, that seemed to fade away, and I have no idea who has a final say so today. There was some more active development during that time, we got 2.2 IIRC but today it seems like progress is defined more by some of the oldtimers scratching personal itches. That period seemed to have a target, rather roughly defined. Now I don't see a stated target. I don't see any great interest in widening the platform list either, which is why I'm trying to make it work truly well on the rpi4. And I think I'm doing reasonably well considering the available resources and time & brains I have left. I'm fully aware that the boy who tested at 147 of the Iowa version of the S/B IQ test back in the 7nth grade, or who made a 98 of the AFQT during the Korean war no longer exists, that pulmonary embolism I had at age 79 cost me in that dept. What hurts that effort isn't so much the few twiddles to build a decent kernel, but the nominally $200 to interface it given the current state of SPI development done by Bertho and Peter. The rest of it is the same list of off the shelf stuff it takes to build an x86 system of similar capabilities. > 4: Why not raise your own capital, fork Linuxcnc and go in the > direction you seem fit ? See #2, and add the requirement for code people expert enough to pull it off. Does there exist a talent pool willing to work for the bennies & verbal flowers while doing something else for $DAYJOB'S paycheck? Good question. But with that I'll put my oar steering this ship back in my shirt pocket. [...] Cheers everybody, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
