I suspect it is that commercial entities like to have a support
contract in place, and almost nobody offers that for LinuxCNC.

So it's a problem with the infrastructure, not the product.

(And, speaking only for myself, as someone who takes on some of the
support burden of the existing userbase of LinuxCNC, I am not sure
that I want to see LinuxCNC Take Over The World. Certainly not without
a lot more commercial support in place)
