Gene,

Speakon comes in up to  8-poles, 30A per pole.   They are very widely used
in the pro audio world to connect audio amplifiers to speakers.   The
quality is what you would expect with high-end professional equipment.
 One design goal was to not have any exposed metal conductors on either
connector when they are un-mated.

I never thought to use them for a machine tool.   But it would work and I
*THINK* I'd never make the mistake of plugging my guitar amp into a milling
machine axis.
