An auction of electronic assembly gear just closed in Austin, TX yesterday. I got a VERY nice pick and place machine for $500, the starting bid. Only one other machine sold. I was amazed!

Have you come across any delta robots used for PCB assembly on your auction searches?
The commercial machines are all XY gantry systems, and of massively heavy construction. This Quad QSA-30A weighs 2250 Lbs and the maker somewhat optimistically rates it at 17000 components/hour. It is supposed to place components with a 3 Sigma repeatability of 0.1 mm. The vision system is mounted on the head and measures the alignment of the parts on the three nozzles while the head moves over the board.

It would be hard to do anything like this with a Delta scheme, as the errors stack up.
