That board only works with a Raspberry Pi.    In 10 years the Pi will be an
antique and no longer supported by now Linux kernels.   Better to buy a
board that connects to any computer via a standard interface then you can
always replace either the computer or the Mesa card.

Thats not quite correct, it can connect mechanically to any card with RPI compatible GPIO connector pinouts (there are many) and via a cable adapter to any card that has SPI interface (or even just GPIO with a bit banging SPI driver)



    Just browsing the Mesa Website and ran into the Above card.

your Sheldon controller and left me wondering If this would have made
your project easier.  If so I have a couple of lathes I might convert
after I finish my Mill upgrades.
