For mining crushers we use a single  prox sensor to read tabs on a plate or
the spokes on the countershaft sheave.

From the sensor we monitor speed. If it drops below 50rpm from target
alarms are triggered to stop feed.  If it goes 100 rpm lower the process is
tripped off.
