One good example of how things can be improved is the example of Jihan Sadat when she took up the female circumcision issue and helped her people understand that it is not an admirable practice. We need to foster leadership among our sisters and support them as they make their voices heard. Another example of "if it does not come from within, it doesn't stick" is the chador and its use in Iran. The Shahanshah (father of the late Shah) ordered women to take off their chadors (veils) and the Ayatollah came in and told them to start wearing them again. Because they did not fight to take it off, they put it on again without much protest.
