When I got to let's stay > cinnamon, I see a tray where lots of other apps go like wicd, > network-manager, and so forth. > > Is that using xmbed or something else? you don't know just by looking - or well "it depends". i recently fixed a bunch of apps to work with e's systray indicator protocol. i noticed some apps were being "stupid" and giving /path/to/but instead of org.whatever.blah as the bus name - so i added a workaround to detect them being stupid and made it work. some were providing unusual setups for finding icons so we couldnt find them - fixed it in git (will then be in 0.24 soon). i also added debug logs to tell you what e sees from indicator protocol apps 9if it sees anything from them) so your logs will have SYSTRAY: something ... lines in them to give you that info to see what stuff the apps are handing to e. > How do I get those apps as icons/tray in E if they aren't natively > supported like some of the epplets that ship with E?
