I did that and repeated it until on two consecutive runs the result was
identical.

I ran Disk first Aid. I had a look at the Installation CD and saw absolutely
no sign of any file or folder named Disk Utility. Do I have to start the
installation procedure before I find it? MacOS X came pre-installed on the
HD and so far I have resisted the urde to re-install. Can I just run the
installation over the top of the previous or do I have to remove MacOS X? I
have updated from the original to X.1.5 so that I would have to run all the
updates as well.

I have not found it on the apple site. I have found however a download
called ?Drive 10 v105 Updater.sit?, which is supposed to do all sorts of
repairs. Unfortunately it comes with the VYSE Installer, which will simply
not work on my computeras indicated in the first part of my original
posting. Pica Software Support, Apple, Microsoft and MindVision are all
being consulted and each of them considers that ?it is not an issue with
their software? and therefore none of them, except Pica Support, is prepared
to offer any resolution or workaround. This has been going on for weeks
while my computer gradually ?dies?.
As it is I can not use Word under MacOS X. It simply ?quits unexpectedly?.
Word 2001 running under Classic is fast and quite useable.
Thank zou for zour helpful suggestions. I truly appreciate it.
