I've never been able to find a single message causing the problem. Only quitting cures it. It does take quite a while for this to happen, leading me to think it might be a memory allocation problem in Entourage: unlike some other apps (e.g. Internet Explorer), it does not seem to grab more memory as I stress it. So perhaps it starts running out of memory and fails to request more? Right now Entourage is taking 312 MB of RAM and anywhere from 30-50% of the CPU. It's not debilitating, but annoying. It drops dramatically when I background it, but never to zero. Like Word, it always seems to have something to do, even when I can't figure out what it might be.... > Also, I'd wonder about your disk space, and disk fragmentation. Days of uptime is the norm for me. Plenty of disk space and no swaps (according to top). I have done a typical rebuild. I have not defragged a Mac since 1993 or so when Norton Speed Disk left one unbootable. In the past, Apple tech notes have said it is unnecessary. I haven't checked on this for OS X disks, but it would surprise me if regular defragging were necessary. That's not typical at all for any Unix variant. I've been meaning to get the new version of Disk Warrior, though. > Try the new SpellCatcher (which also does on-the-fly substitution like > TI4M), from Casidy & Greene. I will check it out. peter -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
