I am considering assembling a lightweight system based on the Rebel 2000 for
"pointing and shooting". Weight is the foremost consideration.
I've tried it with my EF28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, but at 375 grams, this lens
feels to heavy for the Rebel 2000.
On the other hand, the EF28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 V USM is only 200 grams, but its
predecessor, the Mark IV got a lousy 2.2 grade in photodo.com's MTF tests.
(Curiously, the Mark II and the Mark I had more acceptable 3.1 and 3.2
grades, respectively.)
Has anyone had some experience with the EF28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 V USM, and would
care to share his/her comments on the lens' optical quality?
