My sentiments exactly. I bought my IIe and and IX kit at about the same
time, and although the IX was vaunted as the APS equivalent of the II, I was
immediately put off by that stupid flashing light. It got to the point where
I wouldn't even use the body without putting on a 380EX unless I was in
bright sunlight. I still think it is the poorest "improvement" Canon's made
in a long time, and I've kept my IIe as the backup to my 3 precisely because
I didn't want another body with a white autofocus aid. Too bad. I would love
to have something with a built-in flash, ECF, E-TTL with a fast (>2000th)
shutter. The A2E is too dated for my tastes, plus I'd end up with one whose
command dial would break the day after the warranty expired.
I do like the new all-black body, but aesthetics aren/t enough reason to put
up with that flickering mess.
